RMLD makes road trip to The Career Place in Woburn

The Career Place learns about municipal light utility jobs

Reading, MA, July 16, 2009 – Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) staff joined other public power officials to tell students at The Career Place in Woburn about jobs in the energy field and in particular about the electric utility business. Reading, MA, July 16, 2009Several RMLD employees joined others from the public power arena to talk to students interested in career exploration and job-search activities in the energy utility sector at The Career Place in Woburn on July 10.  RMLD Community Relations Manager Priscilla Gottwald gave an overview on how municipal utilities are organized and operated, Darren Greeley and Tom Costello, linemen from Belmont Municipal Light Department (BMLD), gave a bucket truck demonstration taking several students for a ride to test their acrophobia, followed by a panel of utility workers who spoke about their careers, job skills and educational requirements.  The panel included RMLD’s Electrical Engineer Project Manager Ken Evans, Senior Energy Analyst Bill Seldon, Customer Service Manager Laurie Cavagnaro, Gottwald, BMLD’s Accountant/ Customer Service Director Kristina Frizzell and Braintree Light’s Energy Advisor Ruth Slater.
